Barry & Julie Harley

Hotel, Architectural, Commercial and Portrait photographer

Barry Harley is a photographer specializing in Hotel, Architectural, and Portrait Photography. His architectural photography has extended geographically from Duns Castles in Scotland to the infamous Grey Gardens (home of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’s cousins) in East Hampton, NY to extensive shooting in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

His film documentary on Miami’s historic Virginia Key Beach raised the City’s awareness of that $40 million restoration project which was featured in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Barry’s print work has been featured in Open House Magazine, Arlington Magazine, FOX, SAVOY, and Capitol File Magazine as well as www.fstoppers.com and www.petapixel.com.

Barry has worked on numerous portrait photography series ranging from entertainers to city officials. He has photographed Patti La Belle and numerous other show business personalities as well as municipal luminaries in Jamaica, including police commissioner Major General Antony Anderson. His most recent portraiture project, Pullin It All Together, is a book by Paul Wharton published in 2018 “which reveals secrets of styling teams and the tricks photographers use to turn everyday faces into those of supermodels.” Barry is the recipient of the 2020 Communication Arts Award of Excellence.

In the summer of 2018, Barry Harley traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of a group of professionals who participated with HEAR CONGO, an entrepreneurial program that teaches women and young people skills necessary for self-support in the 21st century.

Barry Harley graduated from the International Fine Arts College in Miami, Florida with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

He and his family reside in Ashburn, VA.

Julie Nicole Harley is a graduate of Edna Manley School of Visual Arts and obtained a Certificate in Supervisory Management from the Institute of Management Production -both in Jamaica. Therefore, it’s fair to say that Julie spent her youth applying gallons of sunblock and wearing wide-brimmed hats. With more than 24 years of experience in pre-press technology in offset, digital, and graphic design, she is a veritable pre-press technician guru. She also makes a mean lychee-tini.
